RedShirts Upend Heavily Favored Cannons, in Thriller, 5-4!

An outstanding upset final for
the Summer Session this past Sunday! The Redshirts scored first when
Matthew Bubnis scored after getting a hit off of the Cannon's starter Dillon
Cooperrider. Matthew Bubnis scored when Matt Rosenberg, who went 4 for 4,
brought him in with another single. The Cannons struck back with their own run against the Redshirt's starter Kelly Layton when Dillon scored by
stealing 2nd and 3rd and getting home after a wild pitch. The Redshirts
scored again in the 4th inning after season MVP Jarel Cohen hit a triple that
brought in Matt Rosenberg.
The Cannons then proceeded to score 3 runs in
the bottom of the 4th after a couple of errors let in Cannons Harrison Hale,
Austin Hale, and Brian Blanton. The Redshirts got the game to within one
run when Steven Adamson led off the 6th inning with a single against the
Cannon's closer Carson Hale. Matthew Bubnis brought him in with a
well-hit single after Steven stole 2nd base. The Redshirts went ahead
permanently in the 7th inning when Chris French and Kelly Layton both walked
and then Chris French forced a bad throw to 3rd after a popup was caught in 1st
base foul territory.
Kelly then scored on a wild pitch a few minutes
later. Redshirts middle reliever Sean Prince pitched 4 strong innings,
and Steven Adamson came in to pitch two shutout innings in the 6th and 7th
innings. Matt Rosenberg entered in the 8th inning to earn the save.
He faced the heart of the Cannon's order in the bottom of the 9th and
outstanding fielding by the Redshirts guaranteed a 5-4 win!
